TRANSLATION AND INTERPRETING The Translator Training Program at Montclair State University offers a four-semester concentration within the Spanish major. It consists of a sequential series of courses students begin in their junior year: Translation I, II, III Introduction to Consecutive and Simultaneous Interpretation Translation I and II offer a combination of translation theory and practice with emphasis on five main areas: business/finance, law, medicine, international affairs, and literature. Interpretation is taught in the Translation Laboratory, which is a miniature international conference room with booths for simultaneous interpretation which can be monitored by the instructor. A state-of-the art wireless system provides channels for listening, through ear phones, to interpretation into three languages.
